Five down, five to go!

We have been on the road now for 5 months! We’re officially at the half way point. It’s really flying by. We started December in Nevada’s Las Vegas area exploring Valley of Fire State Park and Death Valley National Park. We made our way past the Hoover Dam and into Arizona for the Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, and Four Corners. We continued on to Mesa Verde and Grand Junction in Colorado, and through Utah covering Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce Canyons, Capital Reef, and Zion National Parks. We spent Christmas in Salt Lake City and then headed back through Colorado to New Mexico, where we’ll be tonight. We’re still on schedule, although we had a few days off course this month due to some mechanical issues. We had to miss Canyon de Chelley, Great Basin National Park, and Great Sand Dunes National Park due to having to get RV repairs and staying longer than planned in Salt Lake City to get the tow dolly taken care of and get the cats taken care of since we discovered on Christmas Eve that they had worms.

As of this morning, we drove 2,327 miles in Ace over the past month for a trip total of 10,081 miles. We drove over 1,000 miles in the car over the past month for a trip total of over 8,000 miles. Between driving Ace, the car, and running the generator, we’ve gone through  602 gallons of gas for the month, a trip total of 1,800 gallons, costing $1,743 for the month and a total of $5,557 for the trip so far.

This past month, Ace got new slide topper brackets, 2 new slide motors and motor cable, and a new water pump. The tow dolly got new lug nut studs and a new tire.

We completed our month of winter for the year and will be coasting along the south in warmer weather for the next couple months.

  1. Omg Amanda! How are you able to be gone so long? I’m sure you’ve told the story, but I must have missed it! I love that you are making so many incredible memories with your beautiful family and that the kids are getting a taste of all parts of this amazing country we live in!! Safe travels and I’ll look forward to your posts/pics. Love, Raynelle
