We have been on the road now for 6 months! It certainly doesn’t feel like it, I don’t mean to sound like a broken record, but this trip is flying by. We started the month, and year, out in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We traveled through Roswell to Carlsbad Caverns National Park and crossed the border into Texas at Guadalupe Mountain National Park. We headed south into Big Bend National Park then east to San Antonio. We spent time in Houston, Galveston, New Orleans, Mississippi, Alabama, and followed the coast down to Dade City, Florida, near Tampa, where we are now.
In the past month, we drove 2,631 miles in Ace over the past month for a trip total of 12,712 miles. We drove about 2,000 miles in the car over the past month for a trip total of 10,000 miles. Between driving Ace, the car, and running the generator, we’ve gone through 435 gallons of gas for the month, a trip total of 2,235 gallons, costing $942 for the month and a total of $6,499 for the trip so far.
This past month, we replaced one tire on the car, the 5th new car tire on this trip, after getting a flat in Texas. Midnight got vaccinated and lost his manhood in San Antonio. Vanessa flew home for a couple days to go to her orthodontic appointment. Everyone is still happy and healthy and enjoying the warm southern weather after our one month of winter in January.
We managed to stay on schedule for the month but decided to go to Galveston instead of Austin as planned. I would love to have a winter beach home on the Bolivar Peninsula some day near Galveston and I’m hoping to get back to Texas some day to see Dallas as well.
